Galerie 24b was delighted to present Du Verbe à la Chair, the first solo exhibition of Marie-Amélie Chéreau in its Parisian gallery space  from May 12 to May 23, 2026. This exhibition explores the mystery of incarnation, that moment when language becomes matter, when the invisible takes form, and brings together a selection of works from Les Incarnées series.  This body of work forms part of an artistic and spiritual exploration inspired by the Gospel of John. Each painting draws upon a specific verse, not to illustrate it, but to offer a contemporary and sensory encounter with its meaning.

Les Incarnées series embodies a process of transformation. Each group of paintings is read from right to left, reversing the conventional Western reading direction in reference to the ancient Semitic languages. Writing first appears on the surface of the canvas as trace, sign, and language. Gradually, paint thickens, color emerges, and matter covers without erasing. The Word does not disappear. It becomes incarnate.

Each work is also born from a dialogue with the stained-glass windows of churches, whose structures, rhythms, and luminous vibrations are reinterpreted within the paintings. Every stained-glass reference is carefully chosen for its resonance with the verse to which it responds. From this encounter between sacred architecture, painting, and Gospel text emerges a space where light itself becomes language.

Du Verbe à la Chair offers a moment of contemplation. A place where language takes form, where light becomes visible, and where the viewer is invited, in turn, to inhabit this movement, ancient and yet ever new, of incarnation.
